Tried this out of pure desperation; it didn't work. "ivtvctl -Y" still
shows "Mute = 1", and explicitly setting "ivtvctl -y mute=0" gets an OK
response but doesn't work (still Mute = 1). I have no sound from either
tuner. I can rule out ALSA or playback problems because older recordings
play back fine, with sound. It is clearly a recording problem. It's not
a MythTV problem either because I also get no sound if I do
"mplayer /dev/video0". It has to be related to the driver somehow, but
since I've completely reinstalled the driver with no success, I really
don't know.

At this point, I can't think of anything to do other than a complete
reinstall. The only reason I haven't done that already is that, since I
have no idea why this is happening, I am not 100% convinced this will
fix it and I don't want to do a lot of work for nothing.

I have also tried removing the AT rpms for ivtv stuff and compiling
0.6.1 from source. I've also tried going back to the 2096 kernel and
compiling ivtv 0.6.1 from source. Nothing has worked.

I'd be thinking I have a hardware problem except that it seems unlikely
that both tuners would fail in the same way at the same time. I'd
suspect a bad connection of some sort, except that the audio is dead
silent (not even static) and the video is quite good.

Screwed, blued, and tattooed.
