Sorry should have read you're entire message before responding...
This seems to be a know problem with the latest ivtv drivers (0.6.2 and 0.4.5).
 I had the same problem, and I had to download/compile/install 0.6.1 (or 0.4.4
if  you're still using 2.6.15 kernels).
