OK, I've solved my ivtv problem, and I've solved my .mpg audio problem.
I can now play video via: mplayer /dev/video
I can now change channels with: ivtv-tune
I'm now moving back to my next step configuring and running MythTV.
I've run mythtvsetup, and I think I've configured everything I need
right. I have a valid zap2it account, and I can successfully run
mythfilldatabase afterwards. mythbackend runs OK, and I have lircd
running (I used the remote control with the setup program, and with
mythfrontend). OK, so I run mythfrontend. Up (eventually) comes the
main screen. I select Watch LiveTV, and it returns me unceremoniously
to ... the main screen.
Here are the mythfrontend and mythbackend outputs from this attempt:
mythbackend:

Can someone please shed some light on what I screwed up? Did I miss
something in the initial setup? Thanks!
