[mythtv-users] Unsupported variation of the PVR-500?

To anyone who can help,
I've just installed a new PVR 500 to use in a mythtv box. I'm going the FC5
route and I'm using ATrpms. I had luck using my PVR 350, but when I took it
out and tried the 500 card I got some really nasty video and sound issues.
On the first card the video was rather flaky. The sound was also an issue.
At times the sound appears to be hollow and "tinny." At other
times the only sound would be static. And sometimes no sound at all.
However, there were still instances where it would work great! I found
that a channel change or exiting TV playback and re-entering playback could
either make the problem seem better or make it seem worse. This behavior
was with both the stable ATrpms package (which is 6.1 I believe) and the
ATrpms testing package (which is the 7.0 dev snapshot as compiled by
ATrpms).
The video on the second tuner was consistently poor quality. Grainy, snowy,
and generally unpleasant to look at. The sound wasn't much better.
And all of these symptoms were still present while bypassing mythtv all
together by doing a "cat /dev/video<0-1>".
So, I came up with a couple of theories. Either I have something configured
incorrectly, or I have an unsupported version of the PVR-500. Now,
obviously the IVTV init section says it's an unknown card. I also noticed
another difference. The new TV tuner modules seem much smaller. I've
included a page (with photos) that helps to illustrate the differences.
The information printed on the MPEG II encoder reads "CONEXANT MPEG II A/V
ECODER -- CX23416-22 --0541Y1X1 -- 0541 TAIWAN". On the two tuner modules
it reads "WinTV-PVR-500 -- NTSC/NTSC-J -- 23552". You can see the photos

Is this simply a variation of the card that is not yet supported? Any help
would be appreciated.
