Thanks for the suggestion - I have tried this. It does make the gui
smaller, but its still chopped off all the way around. What I get is a GUI
that's smaller than the sceensize and clipped around the edge (as though it
takes the previously visible GUI and scales it down). I see the Fedora
desktop where I want the rest of my GUI. Live TV still looks fine.

I haven't tried this yet - I was trying to use NVidias hardware overscan
instead. I believe using MythTVs "overscan" simply chops and scales and
causes interlacing issues - but its worth a try to see how well it works.
