I highly recommend reading through (and doing the "tutorial" example in) 
the section of the HOWTO to which Bruce linked (Advanced Recording 
Options).  Once you have done so, you'll find that you don't need to 
know that "program.hdtv" is a valid expression, but you will still be 
able to find "Only shows marked as HDTV".  :)
