[mythtv-users] Keeping track of movie/recording popularity

Is there some way of keeping up with how many times a particular movie 
or recording is played?

I'd like to be able to sort by and keep only the most popular movies and 
recordings, and also to automate populating my car computer with popular 
movies....

This should be a piece of cake with MySQL - whenever a video is selected 
for play, it updates a counter in MySQL...  Is this being done?  Or 
should I try to hack up the backend?

Ultimately, I want to pull the N most popular videos from the master 
backend database, copy them to the carputer, and update MySQL on the 
carputer with information on those videos.....
