Yeah, like most proprietary kernel modules they didn't work because they
weren't up to date with the latest kernels. I had to edit Kconfig to even get
them to build since they were using an obsolete interface that was removed by
default in 2.6.16.

Then when I ran it I couldn't get non-cloned merged framebuffer to work, it
just displayed garbage on both screens. And even in cloned screens mode when I
ran glxgears or quake they displayed a black window or a window with the
graphics offset by about 800 pixels. And then the machine would crash.

I'm getting passable performance in quake with the ati drivers so I'm happy
for now. (2000+fps in glxgears and 90fps in quake 800x600 which is great but
30-40fps in quake at 1600x1200 which kind of sucks)

If only the drivers provided more than one Xv port I would be basically back
to where I was before I "upgraded" my card from the G400 I had before. But the
G400 had no DVI output for the new LCD panel.

I wonder also whether about this line:

2006-03-27 13:48:22.447 Video timing method: DRM

The radeon DRM for the RV350 is also pretty new. Perhaps it's misbehaving
somehow?
