[mythtv-users] Displaying 1080i on 4:3 standard TV

I tried this last night and the 720x480 mode line helped.  I am now able
to use 16:9 stretch aspect override to get HD content displayed better.
What I have now is the image is centered.  Instead a big section of the
right side cut off, a smaller portion of both the left and right is cut
off.

I think I might try another modeline tonight that is 640x360.  

I'm not sure what you mean by overscan.  I don't think you are referring
to the displayed image being larger than the TV.  I can adjust that with
nvidia-settings.  I had played with the separate video settings for gui
and video.  None of the changes I made, ever made sense compared to the
output.  I only ended up with video that was twice as wide as it was
before, so that even less of the picture showed up on the screen.  I
have not seen any good explanations of how to configure these settings.
