This is also a USA-centric answer, but with that in mind, I have found
that in the "bang for the buck" category with HDTVs you just cannot beat
Samsung.  I have a DLP of theirs at home, had a 23" widescreen LCD TV of
theirs on my desk at my last job and have recommended them to several
friends, all of whom are thrilled with the results.  They look better
than TVs costing far more.
