It's official. I give up. I've tried everyting I could find googling for
BT878, bttv, snd_bt87x.

It looks like the system is identifing the card correctly as card type
40 and tuner 2. Video works great. but nothing I have tired has gotten
me an entry for /dev/dsp /dev/snd/pcm1 or whatever (0 is my sound card)
or cat /proc/asound/cards (other than my sound card). Here is the
relevant info from dmesg

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't have the btaudio module
available, and I don't want to us OSS anyway. I've read somewhere that
the bt878 driver is an OSS driver but if I try to do a modprobe -r bt878
it unloads everything including bttv as well. snd_bt87x looks like the
right module but I haven't gotten it to work even with adding it do
modprobe.conf with "load_all=1" which someone suggested.

My next step is to save up for a Hauppage card...

Thanks,
Richard
