[mythtv-users] which sound card to get?

It seems that it has come time for me to get a new soundcard.  My 
onboard sound does very well, when it works.  However, every now and 
then it does a very odd thing.  One recording will be fine but then the 
very next recording could have amazingly bad sound.  It sounds as if the 
sample rate as dropped to and extremely low value, and in addition, all 
the sounds have a strange high pitched nature to them, as if the bottom 
range of frequencies had been simply thrown out or as if the speakers 
were holding metal tubes up to their mouths.
It seems that it happens right after having successfully recording 
another show, but not always.  It is so rare that I have never been able 
to find the cause of it.  However, now it seems like it's always rearing 
it's ugly head when there's a show I had particularly been waiting for.
What are some good PCI sound cards I can try?  I see some audigies on 
ebay for cheap.  I've heard audigy 2's don't work so well, with sound 
dropping out or causing crackels and pops.  I have a Live value that 
does just that.  I also have an aureal vortex 3d that is simply, to put 
it mildly, crap in linux.
