Yep.  A bit.  As a rule, Open Source Software gives the source code
available to the public to use and modify as they see fit, assuming they
treat it the same ( lots of "licenses" x different rules = over
simplification ).  So, if you want some of these features in it, you can
simply take the source, start up a new porject ( StickItToTheManTV ) and go
on your merry way with development.

The owners of the MythTV project choose what to include and not include.
Some current features may be "fringe" but that doesn mean they should bring
in other features that may make them an even greater target.  Just because
they are doing something Open Source and trying to accomodate the interrests
and suggestions of the community does not mean that they want to take on the
risk of greater lawsuits which could pretty much ruin them financially
and/or legally for life.
