I may be nuts, but would the ubuntu packages work??  I know that the 
original mythtv packages I put on my ubuntu machine were debian packages 
in fact, so maybe it works the other way.

Just go to the http url and download the debs manually.  try and see if 
they install with dpkg.  Site should be working, I was just browsing it 
a second ago.
