Getting more hard drive space is not even the point. If you set it to  
leave free space, it should honor that request and never lock up. Set  
it to leave even 1GB free and check for auto-expire every 10 minutes.  
That way it will expire programs you've told it to expire when it  
needs more room. I don't understand why this isn't the appropriate  
action to take.

If you set none of your programs to auto-expire and then watch a TV  
program for 4 hours with no disk space left, you deserve a black screen.

If you do have programs set to auto-expire and you are checking  
frequently enough and you still lock up, this is a bug and should be  
reported. Otherwise, nothing to see here.
