Actually, it does.  What the OP doesn't like is the *idea* of a 
recording sitting on his hard drive.  The space it takes up will be 
freed and the auto-expire settings will take care of that.  The biggest 
problem I've seen with LiveTV is people's perceptions of how it should 
work and their, pardon my words, analness about having to account for 
every byte on their system and see the exact amount of free space at all 
times.   I don't care how much free space is on my ReplayTV, I know that 
it will record based on the settings I have put in about recorded 
programs, guaranteed (non-autoexpire), and non-guaranteed (autoexpire) 
programs.  Once you understand that Myth will actually manage this space 
for you, you can rid yourself of this concern and just let the system do 
it's job.
