If you get multiple crashes a day, or even a crash every day,
something is very wrong.

My PVR-350 based prototype system has been in near-constant use for
months now.  Records every day.  Plays back 13 days out of 14.  This
is in the Texas heat and my thermostat will let it get up to 88 F
between 7:30A and 5:30P M-F so heat *is* a factor.

Sure, the one time I dinked with it, I broke it, but otherwise,
neither MySQL nor mythbackend have "crashed."  The PVR card became
non-responsive *ONCE* in all those months (I blame the heat--it was
our first 100+ F day).  The frontend has crashed a bit more, but less
than 5 times, easily.  The only time I missed a program--other than
due to conflicts or my own mis-use was when DataDirect decided to send
me digital listings (without me requesting them) so Myth tried to
record digitally despite me having no digital source.

It just works.  It's become an appliance to us.
