If that's what you configure it to use (or if you keep the default).

So, configure MythDVD to use xine.  In the mythfrontend settings under 
"DVD Player Settings":

DVD Player Command
This can be any command to launch a DVD player (e.g. MPlayer, ogle, 
etc.). If present, %d will be substituted for the DVD device (e.g. 
/dev/dvd).
