First, the accepted protocol on this list is to post your response
below the rest of the thread. I know that is not the case on some
other lists, but threads here tend to get long, and many folks jump
in after the thread begins, so doing this makes it much easier to
follow what's happening. I realize that some mail software makes this
a little additional work, but it is worth the trouble, people will be
more inclined to help if they can easily follow your problem and its
history.

Second, you can get help here in getting MythTV set up and running.
As for the Darwin server, you will have to seek help on that
elsewhere. I suspect that files created by Myth will have to be
converted in order to be used by the DSS/ QT systems. You may well
decide that the DSS is not the best solution to stream Myth-recorded
material to other boxes, but that's another issue.

Third, you don't mention whether this machine will be a dedicated
MythTV system, or will be used for other things as well. If it's to
be a dedicated system, I'd seriously consider one of the "all-in-one"
integrated solutions (amicus, mythdora, knoppmyth). If you need to
run on SuSE, some specific pointers may be found by searching this
lists's archives for "suse". To be honest, SuSE is not one of the
more common Myth platforms, and you may run into problems specific to
that distribution (SuSE users, please do not shoot me here, it's an
excellent Linux distro).

No matter what, you really need to spend a lot of time reading the
docs, it will really speed things up in the end. Searching the list's
archives is extremely useful as well, as it is rare to encounter a
problem that has not happened to somebody else in the past.

Please do not take any of this as criticism, we all started from zero
at one time with Linux and Myth. Just be patient and read, read,
read :-)
