[mythtv-users] Is there a distributed filesystem available?

Ok, I did a "little" more looking and I came up with this.

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-452932.html

     But even here, its RAID'ish

Not being very descriptive in your original posting "I want to run 3
disks for my recordings directory"

Its hard to answer in a way that will benifit you, not having a dig
or trying to start a flame war like another... but I guess what your
after is something like what some CD ripping software uses.

    Enter path for storage space...

        /usr/share/area1
        /usr/share/area2
        /usr/share/area3

Then when the areas are being filled, if the file cannot fit to
area1, then its put on to area2.

Or if 1/2 way thru you run out of area 1, a new file is created and
recording continues onto area2, must like when we used to back files up
to floppy's "Please insert disk for continuation of recording".

I havn't looked into what the possible Myth0.20 will do, if thats as
I have written here, or directs certain recordings to area1, others to
area2, or if its input card based.

I think this is what your after.

R&D is exactly what your doing, Your using the Internet for Research
to Develop your system the way you wish it to be.

No, I havn't installed CODA, if I want more space, I generally just
buy a new HD, back up the programs I wish to keep to either 4G7 DVD or
the Dual layer ones I have.

Here at work we are running a RAID5 setup with some pretty HUGE CAD
files and tape backup, but I think mentioning that all problems we have
had with RAID5 and loosing 1 drive then replacing and rebuilding, your
not interested.

Maybe, you'll find a hint or something in here.

Ok, its some reading, but it may enlighten you as to what you think
your looking for, or a possible direction then to go and hunt down for
that information once you have a better understanding of what your
looking for.

If your still not happy with what I have added to your posting, your
quite entitled to pay me for information then abuse me if its not to
your expectation.
