What about Debian? I remember installing Debian on an old 486 laptop,  
with a 120 MB hard disk. We even had X11, GQview, and GEdit  
installed. And no, this wasn't back when 486's were new, this was  
something like three years ago. Should theoretically be possible.  
Just try a net-stall.
