I would plug in the camcorder, press play, then on the computer type:
cat /dev/video1 > camcoder-capture.mpg

If you wanted to use Myth you could:
define the Svideo input on the PVR-500, give it a dummy channel, and
then switch inputs and record the camcorder's output the same way
(press play).
