[mythtv-users] Myth packages for ubuntu?

There is another way to get mythtv packages for Ubuntu... download the
latest source and compile it (do mythtv then mythplugins then myththemes).
It is actually not too scary...

Do the steps as indicated (basically ./configure with the right options,
qmake mythxxx.pro, make) but DON'T do "make install" step. Instead use
"checkinstall" which makes a .deb for you and installs it. Then you can
always uninstall easily, and go back to "stock" mythtv debs later (or
immediately). You should back up your database BEFORE doing this as
running mythtv does an auto update of the database structure (schema).

If there is interest I can get my debs online, they've been working OK for
a couple of weeks now with 0.19, and I can put some details of how to do
this in my blog (post a request back here)

Cheers,

Indulis
