They are pre-installed into the database when MythTV is setup. But, as
you noticed, there is no UI for adding/removing profiles.

Yes. It is only a matter of writing the correct SQL. I don't know it
offhand. There was a posting to this list a few days/weeks ago
spelling out all the steps.
