[mythtv-users] MythDevice?

Actually, to be honest, I am looking for a solution that will do what myth does,
plus allow downloadable movies to be shown, which will help my web site. We
offer downloadable movies, and a PVR device that also allows that would be a
nice thing, even if it actually made no money itself. Anyway, these all just
thoughts right now.

I suppose you would have to convince them that a Myth machine is
better, but maybe not, some folks will buy anything that their
neighbor doesn't have (yet).

The main thing some people want is an assurance that the thing will
work, I'm sure a lot of us have had problems explaining to spouses
why we spent $$$ for something that does not do so.

So instead of selling a machine, try selling the "service" of
installing and setting up Myth, assuming the customer has bought gear
from your "approved" list. A customer who would pay for Myth would
probably pay for other things as well, like X-10 controls, security
systems, VOIP-based PBX systems (Asterisk), A/V distribution

Find some tech-hungry doctors or lawyers who will pay you thousands
for a "custom digital home" and you could sell a lot more than Myth,
you might even try to get hooked up with the contractors who build
high-end housing and market through them.

Just be sure that if you make money from Myth, or any other open-
source project, that a fair portion goes back into the open-source
world which made it possible in the first place.
