[mythtv-users] Two identical tuners - random crashes

Hey,

I have two identical tuner cards (Compro VideoMate DVB-T300, saa7134
based). Just yesterday, my machine started locking up randomly when
playing any video (all mpeg2 + mpeg4 inc live tv, recordings and
DVDs)- the picture would freeze, and xorg would start using up 99.9%
of my CPU. So, I:

1) swapped out the graphics card with an identical model - no change
2) replaced (therefore upgraded) the CPU and mobo - no change
3) re-installed FC5 - no change
4) disabled each of the HDDs - no change
5) upgraded to v4l-dvb cvs & latest nvidia drivers

Of course, I checked dmesg, /var/log/messages and /var/log/xorg.
0.log, and none showed any sign of an oopsie.

Anyway, yesterday, I happened to have the case open on my machine
when it locked up, and noticed that the "card is on" LED on one of
the tuners went off at the point the machine locked up, so I took out
that tuner card and it's not frozen since.

Does this mean the card's foobar'd? It looks that way to me, since
its highly unlikely to be a software thing as no software had changed
in the two weeks prior to it locking up repeatedly. Its worth noting
that the IR receiver port on the same card had packed up a few months
ago, presumably just a dry joint/loose connection.

So, if anyone has any advice that can help me rule out any other
possible faults, before having a wrangle with the card manufacturer/
supplier for a replacement, then that'd be great.

Thanks!

Ben
