Before we can help you we need to know how you are using the output from
your sound card. What sound card? Are you using the line out jack on your
card or the spdif port? What are you using for a .asoundrc config? Since I
use the spdif output on my system I am currently using the asoundrc from the
wilsonet.com site which is set up to default to spdif. In mythtv I use
"ALSA:spdif" for the device and I turn off the mixer allowing the soundcard
to do the conversions. You may need to specify your sound device on the
mplayer command line to get sound depending on your device.
