I don't think it's gmail, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the mailing list is set up by default to not notify you of
your own posts.  You can go to the mailing list admin page to change
this behaviour.

If you want to see your own post you can look at the archive, which is
a usefull thing to know about anyway:

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/

but there can be a delay before they appear there.
