I'm using kernel 2.6.16-1.2111_FC4 and ivtv ivtv-0.6.2 for my
PVR-350/PVR-150 cards and don't experience any problems such as this.
Have you tried to see whether the non-smp kernel provides a more
stable system when running ivtv?
