You obviously don't live in the UK, or anywhere else where the
commercial flagger is 95% useless and the programming isn't very
localised (our commercials are regional, but the programmes and timings
of the breaks usually aren't).
Pre and post roll can presumably be accounted for and subtracted from
the timings before sharing the data (assuming that everyone's clocks are
synced - not an unreasonable assumption, as a PVR with a wildly
inaccurate clock isn't much use). Myth knows when the recording
started, and it knows when the programme was supposed to start.
Okay, maybe a better commflagger would be an alternative, but this
strikes me as an equally valid solution...
