I wouldn't have thought so, but I've never tried it. But I'm guessing
that MythTV would still let you watch Live TV without any program
guide, it just won't be able to tell you what you're watching.

Where did the messages you posted come from? Which log file? They
don't look like errors from mythfilldatabase, they look like errors
from mythbackend. Anyway, from looking at them I would say that the
reason you can't watch Live TV is that you haven't set up your TV
capture card properly, so you need to ensure that all works before you
try to watch Live TV. There's some great instructions at

To get program guide data you, or someone else, will need to write a
"grabber" which downloads the program guide data from somewhere and
writes it to a file in XMLTV format which mythfilldatabase can then
load up into the database. Judging by some recent posts in the last 24
hours it looks like nobody has written one for India so you will need
to find someone who's willing to do that.
