[mythtv-users] Sound cuts out after changing channels or starting to watch live tv

Hello,

I have been using MythTV and a ASUS TV-FM 7135 card for the last month or so and everything has been working well until a couple of days ago. I took mythtv offline so I could use transfer home videos onto my hard drive using mencoder.

Anyways, it seems that after that, whenever I start up the backend & frontend and begin to watch live TV, there is no sound. My capture card does not loop the audio into my line-in on my soundcard or anything. It has its own /dev/dsp1 and /dev/mixer1 devices as input for the audio. As a workaround I am able to open up the gnome mixer app, point it at the /dev/mixer1 device and change the recording source from "Video" to "Line-1" and back to "Video" and all of a sudden MythTV begins to output sound for the live TV. Before I perform the workaround, "Video" is set as the recording source and nothing is muted or anything so it doesn't look like Myth has been making any mixer changes or anything.

The audio will work just fine until I change channels and the sound immediately cuts out again. There's a bit of a static noise and the sound cuts out completely. Again, I can work around this by bringing up the gnome mixer app.

So, of course, whenever I have a timed program for recording, the tuner changes channels and the recording has no sound.

I have tested the tuner card with tvtime (and using sox to grab /dev/dsp1 and dump to /dev/dsp) and changing channels and the audio doesn't get cut off or anything. So, it appears that the capture card and kernel driver are both ok. It seems like the myth backend detects something wrong with the audio stream and quits until I do the workaround and it decides that the audio stream is ok again.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or could point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Chris

PS. Here's a snippet of the mythbackend.log after using the "-v all option" while I was watching live tv and attempting my workaround above:
