Agreed... I have felt for a while that if we took two steps, we could
weed out a lot of government corruption:

	1) Elected federal officials and cabinet members get paid 
	   for life, with increases to compensate for inflation, cost 
	   of living etc.

	2) Elected federal officials and cabinet members are not allowed
	   income from sources acquired past the date they take office
	  (i.e. for the rest of their life).

That would certainly have two effects: People wouldn't be (directly) on
the take, and the incentive to go on the take would be reduced.

I know it would never happen though... I can always dream :)
