[mythtv-users] Pinnacle PCTV/saa7134 on Ubuntu running MythTVProblem

When doing “sudo modprobe saa7134” I get this:

Linux video capture interface: v1.00
saa7130/34: v4l2 driver version 0.2.12 loaded

In dmesg.

I have attached my entire dmesg if it's at any help.

Martin

For starters, try "modprobe saa7134". If that helps (see "dmesg" to confirm), add "saa7134" to the file /etc/modules

Hey all you MythTV Users.

I hope this is the right place to ask my question because I have searched and searched the web without finding a solution.

I will tell you the whole story in short terms:

I got a 700MHz PIII with 128MB Memory on a unknown IBM motherboard. On this box I installed Ubuntu Linux because I wanted to try MythTV out. For this I used a Pinnacle PCTV TV Tuner with a SAA7134 chip on it. After some trouble getting to know the MythTV setup I managed to get it up and running. Please note that Ubuntu recognizes my TV Tuner fine, and giving me the /dev/video0 device. (lspci shows Phillips Something tuner.)

Then I, because I had such success with MythTV decided that a hardware upgrade was needed. So I took my XP1800 with 1048MB DDR and Soyo Dragon Plus motherboard (Via KT266 chipset) and A big harddrive and installed Ubuntu from the exact same CDROM media as on the 700MHz. After the install I quickly installed and configured MythTV until I reached the "mythtv-setup" part. Here the prograss stopped because no TV Tuner was found. Strangely lspci showed no sign of my TV Tuner (Which had work an hour ago in another machine) neither did dmesg.

At first I thought it was a bad connection so I changed the PCI where the card was sitting but only to find no card in lspci. Then I started fooling around with newer and much older biosses for the motherboard but that didn't make any changes. I Even tried reinstalling Ubuntu, but with no luck.

Therefore I decided to change hardware to my XP2500+ with 1048MB mem on a Soltek FRN motherboard. (Running nforce2 chipset.) Installed Ubuntu but only to find that the card still wasn't in lspci and dmesg.

Now I really don't know what to do so I hope you can help me. I have googled on the problem only to find nothing about this.

Thank you very much in advance and sorry for my bad English

Best Regards
Martin / A hopefully soon glad MythTV User ☺
