1. The problem seems to be common
2. The problem is not file system or processor or
signal source (over the air or cable) related.  

It doesn't appear that switching file systems or
upgrading to 0.18.2 will fix the problem.

It also sounds like there are lots of corrupted files
that could be provided if needed to find the root
cause of the freeze.
