It's working now!
 
I re-extracted the firmware using the provided tool and that fixed the error messages. 
But it still wouldn't cat to a file.  I'm not sure why, but after I had both azap AND 
dvbtraffic running, then I could create the mpg file, which plays back just fine in mplayer.  
If dvbtraffic isn't running, then no output.  Strange, I don't recall having to do that 
in the past, but sure enough, I verified I have to do that to capture from my 
HD3000 as well.
 
Anyway, now I just have to get both of these cards working in the same box
at the same time, and my MythTV will then have 2 ATSC tuners.
