Can you tell if lirc is crashing?
lsmod |grep lirc
I had a problem with my remote freezing up on me and found out that for
some reason lirc would crash. It turned out to be a memory issue and
went through my system and cut back on the processes running.
cat /var/log/messages |grep lirc
?
