The option to use Via XvMC has moved in 0.19. In
Settings->TV->Playback there's an option to set the mpeg decoder,
which defaults to "Standard Decoder". Set it to Via XvMC. This reduced
cpu usage during playback from ~80% to ~15% for me.

NB menu and option names above are from memory.
