I use this with an Audigy 2 on the "Digital Out" jack (S/PDIF) and it
works great:

an RCA cable to feed to my receiver and I'm getting digital audio via ALSA.
You can buy digital coax RCA cables with extra shielding, etc., but
you'd probably be fine using any old RCA cable. You don't need anything
fancy.
