Theoretically it does, but I haven't successfully made it go. The
scheduler dies mysteriously, pretending as if the mysql backend is
gone. Restarting mythbackend works for a while, but it dies again. The
problem is not sufficiently mapped out to know if you'll suffer the
same issue.

For the time being, I've migrated back to mysql 4. It works great!
