Shouldn't. Same configuration here.

It is a codeset that some remotes use. You don't need to worry about
it if using a serial receiver - I wanted to point out that it wouldn't
work with the RC5-based Hauppauge cards in case you wanted to use one
of the Hauppauge IR receivers.

When configuring my remote, I had to record my own config file using
iirecord in raw mode. It took maybe half and hour, but it seems to
work OK.

If it's the ntl digital cable box with the blue remote, you probably
want the following lircd.conf file that is readily available:

http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/pace/DI4001N

I use this (it's RC5) and have not had problems with it. I think the
problems with using Sky Navigator configs is due to the fact that in
raw mode and with different receivers, different codes are recorded
which end up being specific to your setup rather than the remote. The
remote is intended for Sky+ boxes which likely have RC6 IR innards and
so don't have the same problems.

If you want to control the cable box using a single instance of LIRC
(if your Tx/RX are on the same serial port), you need to add the cable
remote's definition to lircd.conf in addition to the remote you want
to use to control your system. If using a separate instance of LIRC,
then you need to put the definition in an appropriately named conf
file.
