[mythtv-users] What is it with analog tv in the US?

Here we are in the UK still waiting for HD TV. You guys in the US have 
had it for some time
yet every post I read about from you guys in the us goes something like

1. I have an analog capture card blah blah blah
2. I'm using component connection to my HD display

Where is the Digital TV broadcast  and Digital connection to your 
Digital display device!!!!
Dont you guys know that analog is going to be switched off by 2009
