At one point in time, I had an Athlon XP 1800 w/an FX 5200 w/o XvMC,  
and 720p played back smooth, 1080i w/a deint filter hiccupped every  
few seconds. XvMC was unstable as all hell at the time (> a year  
ago), but was perfectly smooth when it worked w/both 720p and 1080i.
