have your main installation in /usr with the SVN install going to
/usr/local (--prefix)

have a main database (mythconverg) and an SVN database (mythtest).

create a seperate user account that will run SVN and point its to
mythtest instead of mythconverg.

you won't be able to share databases, but you will be able to get both
running. and play with SVN.
