nuvexport has checks for this kind of thing.  I'd have to double check, 
but I know for sure that it's in the xvid exporter (which is the one I 
use most, and still manifests this problem).

Transcode also freaks out if you try to crop 1080i content.  No matter 
what numbers you submit for cropping (even zeros), it tells you they're 
invalid.
