[mythtv-users] Specific question about LiveTV in 0.19 with direct input sources

I don't ask too many questions here, but hopefully someone using SVN
and an externally controlled source for LiveTV (e.g. cable box with IR
transmitter) can give me a definitive answer to my query below. I've
briefly checked tickets on CVS (livetv tuner) but didn't see anything
obvious.
I currently use 0.18.1 with DVB, analogue and direct input sources
from my dig cable boxes. When watching LiveTV, the last tuned channel
is determined by looking in the DB. This is used to either tune the
cards (DVB/analogue) and/or display the correct OSD information when
starting LiveTV.
In the case of an externally-controlled source however, no tuning
takes place when LiveTV is fired up, until another channel is tuned to
- even though it is entirely reasonable to assume that the cable box
may have been changed to another channel outside of MythTV - this is
the crux of the potential problem as I see it.
If I understand the new LiveTV behaviour in the soon to be released
0.19, each program that is watched in LiveTV will be stored both in
the filesystem and in the database as a separate entry. This could
mean that both the OSD info displayed when entering LiveTV could be
wrong, and filename/recordings could be mislabeled.
Does the current 0.19 codeset include changes that ensure that for
externally-controlled sources, tuning to the stored startchan occurs
when LiveTV is fired up, to ensure that the EPG is correct and that
MythTV is displaying the channel it thinks it is?
As I mentioned above, for DVB (on-demand), this must happen
automatically, but it seems to me that it should also happen for
direct input sources to make sure everything matches.
I'm pretty sure that recordings are immune to this problem as tuning
occurs irrespective of the value of startchan for the card input being
used.
Thanks to anyone who can provide clarification (if it is an issue it'd
be great to see it in a release). If it's already in the 0.19 code,
thanks for putting my mind at ease.
Cheers,
Nick
