If you're into flexibility (visual themes, recording formats,
transcoding options) , expandability (adding tuners, adding more
machines to offload processing, adding storage, upgrading to HDTV),
functionality (auto-commerical skip, music, photos, DVDs, videos,
games, news, weather, etc, etc.), and tinkering (streaming video,
Podcasts of recorded programs, using bleed-edge technology), MythTV
is the way to go.

If you want something that works ALL the time without having to worry
about maintenance, Tivo is for you. MythTV is definitely not mass-
consumer-ready (yet) while Tivo is very much plug and play (how Tivo
says the game is played). Myth is more like plug and tweak and tweak
until it does everything you want it to with some play in there
somewhere. :)
