PATA = Parallel ATA = "IDE"
SATA = Serial ATA = IDE, but not really.
PATA drives use the regular 40-pin cable we all know and love. But the
newer SATA drives use a thin 10-wire cable.
So, in your instance, both of the drives will work, and I'd recommend
the Seagate. They have a reputation of being quiet, and this one has
greater capacity, greater spindle speed, and greater cache, making it
better on all three (Major) factors.
