You sure it's not a corrupted database?  Try running optimize_mythdb.pl 
(from the contrib directory) and make sure you set it up to run as a 
daily cron job.  Once you've run optimize_mythdb.pl, run "mythcommflag 
--rebuild" on a file (see "mythcommflag --help" for how) and try editing 
it.  If that fixes the issue, repeat the rebuild on all affected recordings.
