Hello Wim,

It seems like you have a different CI module as well. Mine is a rev1 I
believe (blue pcb). The kernel version can be found by running 'uname -r'.
Looking at Knoppmyth's release notes it mentions ivtv 0.4.4 which is for
2.6.15 and older kernels, so there is a good chance my DVB-S card wont work
anyway.
When I find time I'll try Knoppmyth with the Twinhan 1030A card I have.
Later I can try a kernel upgrade and see if the KNC1 card works too.

Thanks again,

Jelte

Hello Wim,

Thanks for your reply. The KNC1 card that you have is that a rev1 (blue pcb)
or rev2 (red pcb).

I Have a blue pcb ver B1 (Philips SAA7146AH chip Pilips SU1278/SHA tuner)

Common interface Version 3.0 Green pcb

I have a rev 2 card (with SH-2 tuner) and initially it was not working at
all. Now I can use it with FTA channels.

Does KnoppMyth R5C7 use the 2.6.16 (or later) kernel? That is the first
kernel release that supports KNC1 rev 2 DVB-S adapters.

How do I check this? (sorry linux newbee here)

The Aston CAM that I have is upgraded to 2.14 already so if that works for
you then that is promising.

Please let me know what rev you have. If it is a rev2 too, then I'll give
KnoppMyth a try and see how it differs from my FC4 + Myth SVN setup. I have
more experience with Red Hat like flavours than with Debianesque varieties.

Regards,

Jelte

Hi Jelte

I am running Knoppmyth R5C7 one knc1 + cineview module and Aston Cam 2.14
(is the same as yours but with the latest software) to watch the dutch Canal
Digital and it works absolutely flawless.

I even have a card splitter connected (splitty plus) to use my smart card on
my Sat receiver, Windows PC with Technotrend budget card and KnoppMyth with
KNC1 Sat card at the same time. And it just works.

Hello Morten,

I have spent the last couple of months trying to get decoding of Canal
Digitaal (Dutch pay-TV on Astra 19.2E) to work. So far no luck. FTA channels
work fine. So far I have tried using a KNC1 DVB-S (rev2) with CineView CI
module and the Twinhan 1030A DVB-S adapter. As CAMs I have tried the Canal
Digitaal media guard CAM and the Aston 1.07 CAM. All on MythTV SVN r10200,
Fedora Core 4 and it's 2.6.16 kernel.
A friend of mine is using a Hauppauge Nova with CI. Again FTA works fine,
but we couldn't get pay-TV to work.
Somehow I can't figure out what patches to use. For the Twinhan there must
be HLCI patches available, but it's not clear to me whether these are
present in recent SVN checkouts or how to apply them. The relationship
between MythTV and Linuxtv's DVB drivers is also not totally clear to me.

All in all an interesting challenge. If someone on this list has pointers to
move us forward, please let us know.

Regards,

Jelte

Hi all,

I've been thinking of replacing my 3 PVR-150 tuners with DVB-S cards.
Are there any caveats I should be aware of?
Are there some cards that don't work?
I've had a look at "Hauppauge WinTV Nova-CI-S" - would this be a good
choice?

I'm situated in Norway and would probably receive either Canal Digital
or Canal+.

Cheers,

-Morten
